WK2_SEGUN_PAPER TOPIC - COST  RISK ANALYSIS (SIMULATION) COMPARING RESULTS USING TWO TOOLS (PRIMAVERA RISK ANALYSIS vs @RISK)

1.0 Abstract

This study has evaluated the outcomes of two probabilistic cost analysis using two tools – Primavera Risk Analysis 8.7 and @Risk 5.0 for Excel on two Nigerian projects. Level one near critical and critical activities were used as the basis for the simulations. Ten Users of the two tools were also interviewed to determine the ease of use, understanding of the tools and clarity to interpret the results among project services practitioners. Ten non-users that rely on the output of the tools to make decisions were also interviewed to determine the how reliable the results from the tools.

The study utilized a questionnaire survey to elicit information pertaining to understanding, clarity to interpret outputs, use of outputs in taking decisions in the Nigeria Oil industry from owners and contractors perspectives.

The relative importance index (RII) was used to rank these factors. The result revealed the important success factors are: xxxxx, yyyyy, zzzzz.

The important failure factors are aaa, bbb, ccc.
The study concluded that there is xxxxx agreement. The study recommends xxxxxx.

Keywords: probabilistic cost analysis, Nigeria, oil industry.

  1. Segun, you need to be talking to your team BEFORE you publish your blogs, at least until you clearly understand what my expectations are....

This is NOT the place to be actually writing your paper. As explained on many occasions, the purpose of this blog is for you to demonstrate to me that you can take the theoretical tools and techniques you are learning about from the books and APPLY them to your real world working situation.

My suggestion was (and remains) that if you are working smart, you will USE this forum to test drive the tools and techniques you are using to write your papers.

Sorry, but I have to REJECT this posting and can only urge you to consult with your project and program manager or any of the others who can explain better what I am looking for.
